Group Help Page

What is a group?
A group is a way for you to meet and get to know people on Paltalk that share your interests. You can create a group or join someone else's group on any subject you like, see other members, and communicate with them via the group's message board or chat room.

Why should I join a group?
Joining a group is the best way to make other members know you want to be affiliated with the group. In addition, only group members can post on the group's message board or upload pictures or videos to the group page.

How is the chat room related to the group?
Think of a chat room and a group as part of the same thing. Every chat room on Paltalk will have a group page, and every group page will have a chat room associated with it. Since chat rooms on Paltalk are not always opened, we felt that a group web page was a great way to let Paltalkers meet and get to know one another.

How can I find a group I like?
You can search or browse any group you like from Paltalk messenger or from the Paltalk website. Simply enter a subject you're interested in, and search away.

How can I create a group?
First, you need to have a Paltalk account. Then, from the Paltalk website, click on the 'Groups' tab. Click on the 'Create my Group' link near the top of the page, and fill out the appropriate fields.

Once created, you can upload pictures or videos, invite friends to join or post interesting topics on the group's message board.

How can I manage my groups?
Go to http://groups.paltalk.com, and log in. Click on the 'My Groups' link near the top of the page, and then click on 'Manage Group'.

If you're an owner, you can promote members to be administrators or super-administrators, remove people from your group, and also control how people access your chat room.

Owners and administrators alike can remove members from the group and decide who can become members when they join if the owner decides to make a limited access group (see below).

Who is the owner of a group? What can I do as an owner?
The owner is the Paltalk user that created the group. He or she happened to like that particular topic and wanted to meet similar people. Anyone on Paltalk can own his or her own group simply by creating one.

Who are the group's administrators?
The owner of any group can promote any member to an administrator or super administrator. Administrators can do a number of things like boot a member from the group's chat room or group, delete message board posts, or remove pictures or videos from the group.

What is a super administrator?
Super administrators have all the privileges that administrators have, with the additional abilities to permanently ban someone from the group or change the message that appears at the top of the chat room. In addition to these privileges, you can grant super-administrators greater powers in your group page that you may not want to give regular administrators: you may want to allow them to create new topics on your message board or even approve new members.

Once someone becomes a member of your group, you can promote them to super-administrator from your 'Manage Group' page.

What should I use the group's message board for?
In addition to carrying on interesting conversations with member of your group when they're not in your chat room, you can use the message board to tell other members about yourself (a good idea if you're new to the group), or even schedule a time to chat with everyone.

What is the group's media library for?
Do you have an interesting picture or video to share with the group? Post it in the media library! You can store up to 4 videos and 12 pictures for the entire group.

What is a limited access group?
The owner of a group can decide at any time that he or she can approve new members before they join their group. The owner may want to only let his friends join or it may be a business that charges money for members to access the group.

Does my group have email notifications?
If something happens in a group during the course of the day like a post to the message board, the room opens, a new member joins, or something similar, an email gets sent to all of the group's members summarizing the activity. This way if activity happens in your group sporadically you'll know something happened without having to check up every day.

This message is completely optional - anyone can remove himself or herself from receiving this message if they choose.

What is a premium group?
While many groups on Paltalk are free, there are also quite a few Premium Groups. Premium Groups have chat rooms that hold more people and rooms that are always open. Owners have greater control over who can access the room and many additional features. Click here to learn more about Premium Groups now.

How do I send Chat Groups-related feedback to Paltalk?
